You can't beat the direct drive of the platters which emulate the record and feel of a Technics 1200. The unit has a few audio tricks which aren't bad and the display is spot on. CONS: the cds sometime take a long time to load, and some cds aren't liked by the 3500. That will royally screw up a nice mix. The electric cord doesn't come off the unit for easy storage or moving. It doesn't have a USB2 or Firewire 400/800 jacks. I wish it had a buffer of 2 minutes so you can still play a song and eject it and start up another. Other than that, its a great unit and easy to mix with.
I have worked with CDJ 1000s and the 3500s. My personal preference are the Denons because of the easy transition from vinyl to CDs. I still play vinyl in my sets so the 3500s are a perfect with the turning platter. Plus with the onboard effects I can spice up my mixes. I own two of them so I recommend them to beginners, intermediates and professionals.
I simply love these things. I've used the Pioneer CDJ-800 and the Pioneer CDJ-1000 and hands down the Denon-3500 are better. My only problem with them is that it takes them a little longer then the CDJ's to load mp3 cds, but besides that I love them. They are easy to use and the hot start buttons are easier to use then the CDJ-1000. The look of the 3500 is awesome as well. They look great at night at the club. Well worth the money.
I would def recommend this product. It's very versitale and easy to use. There is no product i've used before better than this one. It gets no better than this right now. If you have the money to spare get it.
I am a old school DJ who has been using vinyl for 15 years. I wanted a CJ played that could handle heavy scratching while keeping the sound clear. This CD player does just that. I also like the special effects this unit has. I would say the only bad thing about this unit is that you can't bend for a long time plus you can't use your fingers to slow the cd down like you can with vinyl. If you are looking to make the switch from vinyl to CD this is the unit for you.
this is a good product for "beginners", i would not buy it however. i only like this product b/c the cue funtion is sharper tha the pioneer cdjs, and you can scratch over a song wile its playing on 1 single turntable.
Revolving platter with 33 and 45 rpm settings, excellent platter response, simplified functions, durable construction and intigrates easily with Serato. The ideal choice for someone crossing over from Technics 1200s (Like Myself) to CD players!!!
The Denon S3500's are the best cd turntables out-to-date. In terms of versatility, flexibility, sound quality and customizing no other CDJ comes close. The Pioneer 1000's do not spin and the Technics DZ-1200's have a distorted electronic sound. As for the new numark cdj's I have never tried them and they dont look to promising especially for that price. Regular Technics 1200 vinyl's with Serato Scratch Live are also nice however you can also use the 3500's with that program. Overall you can't go wrong with these CDJ's no matter what you are trying to do.
I've had the Denon 3500 for about 6 months now and I gotta say it the hottest CD player on the market today. Now I no why they dicontinued the Denon 5000...
This is one hell of a CD Player. It plays Your Mp3 Mixes as well, so you can leave the same CD's in each one to perform your set. There is absolutly nothing wrong with these decks. I think anyone who uses them will find them to be very power. They allow you to be very creative and will give your mix that edge your crowd has been begging for!
These are great decks. Very similar to using a turntable. I've only noticed 2 downfalls. I sometimes have problems with it reading burnt cd's. And if you run it in a road case the unit heats up and the pitch goes wacky. There are ways around those problems but you lose features
................
I love to use this product because of the high torque and excellent pitch response , and don't forget all the great additives it has.
Well worth the money!
This piece of equipments will simply leave you speechless...
Get rid of the CDJ-1000's and buy a set of these. Face it, Denon is the best on the market with another hot product. You can scratch like a real turntable with these and these units have cool sound effects. I put a CDJ-1000 and DNS-3500 side by side for a comparison and in just a few minutes I made my decision to buy the DNS-3500's simply because of the effects and the platter is just like a turntable. I am very pleased and it was a great investment!
Alright, heres the deal and the question you want answered. Does it replace the feel of wax? Of course not. BUT, if you to manipulate sounds, seamless loop, scratch without a digital sound and, more importantly, without skipping across vinyl, this is THE unit! I've been djing for over 20 years and thought I would never have as much fun spinnin' on CD's, but this unit made me a believer. I bought two of these and SSL at about the same time and I have gravitated to these more so than SSL. Even though SSL is awesome, I can't see myself committing to just a harddrive and computer at a gig but now that SSL is optimized for these babies, I may get the best of both worlds. All I need is about 20 MP3 CD's just case my laptop goes batty. Against the "industry standard", this unit holds its own. With the exception of the wave display and non volatile memory storage, it blows the 1000's out of the water,IMHO. C'mon, how can they compare to a reactive direct drive platter? I will warn you, if you get used to this size platter, it will be hard to go back to 12"s. So for those of you who bounce back between technologies be careful not to get too comfortable. With that said, I still have my 1200's for those nostalgic moments.
If you every made music with a turntable and a mixer...you can confidently step into CD's and not miss a beat. It's even BETTER than a turntable!!!
Takes a little while to get used to , but once you get it put toghether its pretty easy to figure out. takes a while to get used to the menu's and the rotary track selection knob. Display is bright and easy to read buttons and knobs feel sold, althought id prefer plastic play and cue as opposed to rubber, but thats just a personal preference. Looping and hotstarts are easy to use as well as the sampler. platter is sold and metal not plastic :) like the pio....
Get this , you wont regret it.
CD turntable vs vinyl? I was certain it was no comparison, there could be no replacing the traditional vinyl turntable. I have used turntables for years and recently made the switch to cd turntables. I am very pleased with the DN-S3500. Easy to use, excellent scratch performance, and just all out a great cd turntable. Very pleased!
All what any DJ could wish for in a CD player. The echo loop in amazing. The price is reasonable. I've had theses players for about a month now and they are the best cd players i've used.
